I have been in contact with those other Wisconsin Eveland familes, and nobody can find my Daniel making a connection to them. I have no doubt that the Daniel and Clarissa are the correct ones that are on the 1850 census. They were married in Racine in 1846. The Daniel Eveland that was married to Clarissa was said to have died that same year on the day the son Daniel Jr was born. Daniel Jr., was born in August. I have found Clarissa and son Daniel in 1860, with her son by her 2nd husband. Clarissa remarried a third time in 1861 to my great great grandfather Levi M Mack.
I am not so much interested in tracing back the Eveland roots as I am in tracking down Daniel Eveland who is on the census in Dawes County NE. I located him in 1900 in Sioux City Iowa, and he is the only Daniel Eveland in 1900 that fits the bill for being Daniel, son of Clarissa.
Clarissa and Levi disappeared after 1880. Family story was that he took a walk one day, and nobody ever saw him afterward, but there is also other information of a Levi M Mack that died in Sioux City Iowa about 1885. I have not been able to confirm this.
My main objective in tracking down Daniel, is to, perhaps, find more on his mother and even her death. We know that her son Daniel was alive in 1928, as we have family information from a letter that he was visited by one of the Mack half brothers in that year, but no indication of where he was living.
