From the 12 Aug 1898 issue of the Oakland independent: Monroe, Henry W.: pg 5, col 1, from Tekamah: Old citizen of Burt Co. and Tekamah, died at his home Tue. morning after an illness of long standing. During his service in the army he was badly wounded and of late years the old wounds had been very troublesome. He was sheriff of Burt Co. two terms and was a prominent figure in republican politics for several years. Since Tekamah has been "dry" he has
conducted a "temperance hall" which has caused the authroities much trouble and he has ben placed under arrest several times. He was well-to-do and had numerous friends who stayed by him until the end.

Note: He was born to John and Mary Ann(Myers) Munro in E. Randolph, Cattaraugus County, NY. He married Malinda Jane Metzler 8/1/1875.
