Silas SCOTT, Florence WINTERMUTE, Ida CAPER
I am trying to find my gr-gr-grandmother's brother that moved to Ayr, Adams Co., NE about 1875.
Silas V. Scott was born in New Brunswick/Maine abt 1843 (parents were Thomas and Ann SCOTT).He moved with his parents to Princeton, IL in 1854 and then on to Brooklyn, Poweshiek Co., IA in 1865.Silas completed two land patents, a homestead claim and a tree claim both entered in 1875 and completed in 1884/5.
We know Silas married sometime after 1880 census (he was listed as single) and believe they had at least one daughter, Florence who married Frank WINTERMUTE.The Wintermutes had two daughters: Fern, who remained single, and Ida who married Vernon Caper/Carper and lived near Ayr/Blue Hill.We believe Ida and Vernon had a daughter named Marilyn.
Silas was one of eight children. His siblings were:John (who married Rachel Catherine JORDAN), Emeline (who married Jeremiah DEE, my gr-gr-grandparents), Thomas W. (who married Lydia HOOVER), David V. (who married, name unknown), William Z. (who married Francis "Annie" DECKER, and died in Estline, SD in 1902), Ida Susan(who married J. H. YENNIE), and Sarah A. (who married Frank JEWELL).
Any information on this Scott family would be much appreciated!! I am willing to share what information I have to date.
