Yes, thanks. It gave his father's and the name of (Unk) Coon for the mother. The problem is, George Hennessy and Ada Coon had children...but no William.

The Van Buren Genealogical Society has assisted in searching for William's birth record and came up with a blank for him...and a piece of information which makes it impossible for him to have been born to George and Ada if his birth date is correct. George and Ada had a little girl about 4 months before William was supposedly born.

Though George and Ada are alluringly, and logically, his parents, William doesn't fit. There is another Hennessy family in MI who had a William with the right birth year.

I've had to consider the possiblity that William's wife "got it wrong" on the death record(she did in her own birth family!, hence my inquiry on this board. I was/am hoping for concrete proof one way or another.

Thanks for your interest in my mystery.
