Gerber family from Missouri to McHenry County, North Dakota

Samuel Gerber, his son Ernst, and Ernst's son Edgar migrated to North Dakota in 1900. Karl (may have been known as Charles) was included with these men in the 1900 ND census. Samuel and Ernst bought land in the County. I have no idea what became of Karl (Charles), born 13 Apr 1959 in Schangnau, in the Signau District, recorded at Langnau iM Emmental, Kanton Bern; immigrated to the USA in 1883. Another brother Wilhelm Ulrich (may have been known as William or Bill) born 23 Nov 1861, recorded at Langnau iM Emmental, Kanton Bern, Switzerland came to the USA in 1882. I do not know anything more of him.

Samuel died 17 Jul 1915 at Anamoose, North Dakota. His wife Maria Elizabetha Mathys died in Missouri in 1897. I have no record of where Samuel is buried. It seems most likely at the United Cemetery near Guthrie but I can find no record. Ernst's first wife Ida, died in 1900 and is buried in Missouri. He re-married and later moved to Vancouver, Washington. There was a sister Maria Anna born 12 Oct 1868 in Switzerland whom I cannot locate. She came to Missouri with the family in 1884.

Any information about my family would be greatly appreciated.

Carrol Gerber-Burkard
