James Cairns Airth and Margaret McLellan
Hi, I was advised to post this:
I have been searching for over two years for other family of William Airth and Eliza Cairns. I recently came across a posting on the genforum website about William Airth and Eliza Cairns. I am trying to locate as many Airth relatives as I can.
My grandfather is Lewis Angus Airth who is a son of James Cairns Airth who died in 1925 in Long Beach, CA. There are a few Airth's descended from James Cairns Airth (who married Margaret McLellan in Pembina, North Dakota 10 Jan 1883) living on the west coast of the U.S.
When I began my research I discovered that William Airth is the eldest of eight children of William Airth and Mary Singer (all children were born in Rayne, Aberdeenshire, Scotland - I have sources available). Earlier this year I came into contact with several of their descendants (of son Henry (Harry) Franklin, 1865-1951) in central Florida, Live Oak. My research into the Florida family came in a letter written many years ago from one of Lewis Angus Airth's sisters to his wife (my grandmother) who indicated that some family history information might be found with a cousin named Stella Irene Rolston of Miamia, FL. Stella passed away in 1980 without any children and she apparently had an interest in family history as she also worked as a census taker. Stella was one of five children of Emily and Dr. Rolston. Emily and Dr. Rolston also had two granddaughters living with them according to the 1930 census. One of them was Emily Rolston Brion who passed away about 1998 and I have been hoping that perhaps her descendants might have some genealogy information.
James and Margaret had the following children: Elsie Addlet, 1882-1940, Lillian Maud, 1885-1974, Annie Luella, 1888-1937, William Cairns, 1889-1958, Emily Alexia, 1891-1983, Pearl Elizabeth, 1893-1968, Leila Elizabeth 1896-1996, Henry (Harry) James 1899-1990, and Lewis Angus, 1906-1964. Almost all children at some time were in North Dakota in their youth.
I also have some of the children and grandchildren of Henry Franklin Airth and Elizabeth Porter. Hope this info is useful to anyone. I would be very glad to find any other FL "living" connections. Cheers, Jeff Airth
