I suggest you check out the rootsweb USGenWeb archives.Conway is in Walsh Co.There are two Fitzpatricks in the Walsh Co land records; John, homesteaded Nov 1, 1886, and William, homesteaded Apr 23 1897.Note that they probably came to Walsh Co a little before these dates. Neither of the regions listed for their land parcels are in Eden Twp, the area in which Conway is.
1885 census has:
A J. Fitzpatrick, 25, of Canada, in Grafton, Walsh Co.A bartender, apparently without his family. There is also a William Fitzpatrick, 23, a bartender, born Ireland, in Grafton.
A John Fitzpatrick, 38, a carpenter, of Ireland, and an
A. Fitzpatrick, 30, born Canada (possibly wife), in Walsh Co.
A Mary Fitzpatrick, 56, born Ireland, possibly mother to Margaret Daily, 32, born Ontario, although no relationships are given in the index.
Margaret Daily has children Mary E, 15, John, 13, Nellie, 8, Margaret, 5, all born Ontario, Henry, 2, Ida M, 2M, both born ND.The husband appears to be away.
Last a P.C. Fitzpatrick, 21, born Canada, living Grafton.
According to a list of ND pioneers, John Fitzpatrick was one of the first settlers in Walsh County, entering Nov 3 1882.
In 1900 census, there are no Fitzpatrics in the Conway/Eden Twp area.
However, there are these:
(Walshville Twp)
William J Fitzpatrick, born July 1854, widowed, born Canada(Fre), parents born Ireland, immigrated 1890.
Henry G, son, born Apr 1886, 14, born Canada Fr, parents born same
William J, son, born Mar 1888, 12, born same as Henry
Anne A, dau, born Aug 1891, 8, born ND, parents born as above
Julia, dau, born Mar 1894, 6, born ND, parents ditto
Catherine, dau, born Dec 1894, 5, born ND, parents ditto (I do think the above is _just_ about possible, if you count the months)
There is also a John Fitzpatrick, born Apr 1899, 1,born ND, parentsborn Canada Fr, living with the family of the widow Jane Jenkins (Jun 1847, 54, 2 children, born Canada, parent born Ireland), and her children Charlie, 17, and Margaret, 15, both born Canada. He might be a son, and Jane might be his aunt, or a friend of the family who offered to look after him.
John Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitzpatrick both applied for US citizenship in Walsh Co.
Hope this helps
Jenna
