First Sheriff in Yancey County

I am trying to confirm the name of the first Sheriff of Yancey County, North Carolina when it was formed from Buncombe County back in 1834. Can anyone provide this information or guide me as to where I can search? I have tried the Yancy County Chamber of Commerce and they advised they did not have that information.
