I am looking for information on an ancestor, James Yancey Phillips, who was born 1820-1825. He migrated to Louisiana where he married Marie Arcene Rambin in 1850. Census records from Louisiana list birthplace as either North Carolina or South Carolina. Thought his middle name could indicate where his family had lived. Does anyone have information on a James Phillips, James Y. Phillips, or James Yancey Phillips fitting this description? Thank you for your help.
