I have been working on the Yancey County death records and have some partial ones that may help you with the Forney connection.
They lived in Brush Creek and I have not as yet got them transcribed.
These are the ones from 1914-1924
According to these your Wilamena was the wife of Arthur Forney. According to the 1900 census, Arthur was the son of Jacob Forney & Clara Carson Forney.
