Jason, Nice to meet another cousin.
Below is a group sheet for the parents of David E. Willis. My ancestor is Thomas R. Willis, brother of David. His son, Jacob Henderson Willis was the father of my grandmother, Rachel Mary Willis Allen.
Thomas R. Willis was captured at Cumberland Gap and sent to a prison camp in Ill. His wife just knew that he never came back from the war, she did not know what happened to him.

FAMILY NOTES

HUSBAND NOTES: Benjamin WILLIS jr.
General: Margaret Heinek has a James Willis listed as 1/2 brother to Benjamin's
children. She does not say if this James is a son of Benjamin or of Hannah. She
says that James lived near Knoxville, Tenn.
Benjamin is listed in the 1830 Burke County, NC census and in Yancey
County, NC in 1840. 1840 Yancey County Census reads: Benj. J Willis, 2 boys
under 5; 4 boys 5-10; 1 male 40-50; 3 females under 5; 1 female 40-50.
Unicoi County, Tn. Heritage Book says that Benjamin died about 1841.

WIFE NOTES: Hannah REID
General: Joyce Howard Ellis of Greenville SC has Thomas and Abigail Reid as parents
of Hannah. Margaret Heinik has Samuel as her father. I have seen no
documentation for either claim. Toe River Heirtage Book says that Thomas and
Samuel were brothers and that both served in the Rev. War. I also have a
reference in some research on the Silvers family that Samuel was the father of
Nancy Reed who married Jacob Silver and was the step mother of Charlie Silver.

(1996) Mrs. Ellis has an article in the "Unicoi County Tennessee Heritage
Book" that gives much information on the family of Benjamin and Hannah. This
article is the source unless otherwise stated for the children and for Hannah's
parents.

In 1850 Hannah is in Yancey County, NC. She had some of the children with
