Hi, In regard to Diane and I, we are related as 1st cousins because her father and my grandfather were brothers. We found each other through this very genforum looking for Rolands in Yancey county. The African Americans that were Roland's from my understanding were mainly slaves from the Egyptian area of the town a were given the name by the plantations for a heritage. It's all crazy twisted and I wish I could make sense of it all. Denise and I are not cousins though, but she's a great help with the geneology in that area.
