The 1910 Yadkin County census in East Bend shows a William L. PORTER (age 34) and wife Lizzie P (age 31) and they have a son Eulis M (age 13) so this is probably them. I've seen the name of Eulis and Ulysses be spelled differently depending on the census. Remember, census people would read and write, but sometimes they spelled phonetically since many of those surveyed could not write.

Other children were Lillie B (11, daughter), Ila E (9, daughter), Carilous (6, son), Ladista (4, daughter), Wanita (1y 6 mos, daughter).

There is a marriage in Yadkin County on 12-26-1895 for Louis PORTER (son of John & Susan Porter) to a Daisy SPEAS (daughter of Ervin & Ticia Speas). Don't know if they are African-American, but you can check with the Register of Deeds there and look at the records.

Bob
