Hi Lois,

I have done a lot of research of the Swaim's of Surry/Yadkin County, NC.

It appears that your Joseph would be the son of Solomon David Swaim b. 1823 died 1907 & Sarah Jane Lorenza Holcomb b. 1823 died 1906.

Someone had given me this information on Joseph, but I like you can find no proof of his existencewith his parents in 1870 or 1880.
