Florence S. Cheek, 94, formerly of Jonesville (Yadkin County), passed away June 27, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Florence was born on October 9, 1907, in Surry County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Shirly Cheek, two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by eight daughters, Edna Martin of High Point, Nancy Norton and Shirley Ann Eichenbaum of Dunnellon, Fla., Betty Williams of Plymouth, Mich., Tommye Logan, Judy Hemrick and Phyllis Wagoner of Pfafftown and Gale Triplett of Jonesville; two sons, Larry Cheek of Hickory and Seth Cheek of Pfafftown; three sisters, Stella Hitch of Dunnellon, Fla., Irene Blackburn of Highpoint and Jackie Thompson of Mocksville; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, at the Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Ray Hamilton and Dr. Gary McCollough. Burial will follow at the Swan(n) Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
