Thank goodness David was his child! Keith wants to be absolutely sure he is the right David and wants to know what your sources are that prove that "his" David is Josiah's son. Did you say that you had Josiah John's will? You asked for some information on David. Here goes-we don't have any information on his death or place of burial. Info on his children - Malinda Jane (info from Wasserburger Family Pages Rootsweb)says she was born 1853 in Ala.(of course that is the date listed for her sister Amanda in other places)Death is 30 Nov 1883 in Hardin Co., TN. She married Luke G. Cossey. He was born 1845 in Hardin County, TN. Keith has evidence that he is the younger brother of Martha Cossey who married Josiah or Joe (son of David & Keith's ggrandfather). About Joe- family information says that his name is Jefferson. I am not sure if it comes from personal knowledge or his tombstone, but Keith's mom has him listed that way. He married Martha E. Cossey dau of (info again from Wasserburger page) Herbert or Hubbard Cossey b 18 Jan 1820 in NC/TN and Lucretia b about 1814-16 in TN. Now back to what we have from family- Martha was married first to a Qualls who has many variations on his first two names Tyler/Taylor Bolin/Owen born in Hardin County about 1842 he served in a Union reg. during the Civil War. He and Martha had a child Lucretia (Lula) Catherine b 10 May 1864 in Lauderdale Co., Ala. Here is the story Keith's grandmother told us once. (Martha was her mother-in-law and she said she was afraid of that "old woman".) She said that the Qualls man was hung in the front yard of his home (with Martha looking on) for refusing to fight. Now whether it was Confederates who didn't like the fact that he fougt for the Union or if he was a Union deserter we don't know, but he left a young wife and a baby behind. Martha didn't marry our Joe until Feb 17, 1876 and they had six children including Keith's grandfather Wheeler.
Well, hope some of this is of interest to you. I will try to send more info another time. Keith has gone outside and has so many folders I will have to wait for him to find it.
