Proof of kinship available

For any descendants of this Thomas Pate, the Pate DNA Project offers a great opportunity to establish his kinship to the Daniel Pate (c. 1740-1791) family line.

Descendants of two sons of Daniel, James Pate and William Pate, are represented in our Project. Charles Pate, who died in Tuscaloosa in 1837, was also a son of Daniel, and a descendant of his would provide very valuable DNA results.

At this time, it seems highly unlikely that any of these kinships will ever be proven through traditional genealogical research. So DNA evidence is the last resort, and its proofs are conclusive.

There are currently 24 members in the family group that Thomas is most likely to belong to. There are 60 males in the total Project.

If you know any male Pate descendants of Thomas, please encourage them to join our Project and/or contact me. His DNA results would be very valuable for the project, and very useful for his own genealogical research.

To view the results for our current members, visit our website at www.familytreedna.com/public/pate-dna-project/ and click on the "Y Results" tab at the upper right.
