PHELPS, SWAIN, LAMB in WASHINGTON CO, NC

LUCRETIA MAE PHELPS is my mother-in-law's mother. Something happened to LUCRETIA's parents & LUCRETIA was raised by relatives including an Uncle Patrick (Unknown if Patrick is 1st or last name of uncle.)
LUCRETIA MAE PHELPS is listed as LUCRETIA b.2-1893 living alone with Mother, ELIZA J. PHELPS, widowed or divorced, Mother of 4 living children, b. 11-1859 in Washington Co. Census.
LUCRETIA's sister, SARAH E. aka SADIE PHELPS b.10-1884 married CHARLIE M. LAMB and lived in Washingon Co. with children: WILMA, RAYMOND, GERTRUDE, and ELMER LAMB.
LUCRETIA's brother, JAMES HARDY PHELPS b.7-1887 married EFFIE AMBROSE and live in Washington Co. with children: HUBERT, ROSEMOND, ALETHIA, ARCHIE, ELMO, and JAMES HARRELL PHELPS.
I don't think that Lucretia, Sadie, or James Hardy knew about the 4th living child of Eliza J. Phelps. 1880 Washington Co. Census lists ELIZA PHELPS, 21, Single, with 5 mo. old WILLIAM PHELPS. They are living in the household of A.H. & PINY SWAIN. Perhaps this is the 4th child. I cannot find William in subsequent censuses although he is listed as still living in the 1900 Census.
LUCRETIA is listed as 18-year old MAY PHELPS, wife's niece, in the 1910 Washington Co. Census in the household of WM. & MISSOURI LUCAS, age 46. 51-year old Single ROXAN SWAIN, wife's Sister, is also listed with this family. I believe that ELIZA J. PHELPS is the younger sister of ROXAN & MISSOURI SWAIN. I think that their parents were GEORGE & NANCY A. SWAIN or JAMES & ANN SWAIN. I found these families listed in the 1860 & 1870 Washington Co. Censuses with some of the same children so I wonder if George died & Nancy Ann married James Swain, perhaps the brother or cousin of George?
I also want to know the parents of MELISSA E. BASNIGHT b.12-1852. 8-year old MELISSA BASNIGHT is living in the household of THOMAS & CAROLINE BASNIGHT in the 1860 Tyrrell Co. Census. 18-year old MALISA BASNIGHT is living in the household of LEMUEL & NANCY BASNIGHT in the 1870 Washington Co.
Census. LEMUEL & NANCY BASNIGHT have a 7 yr. old female named Ann M. in the 1860 Tyrrell Co. Census. I believe that this is really ANN MELISSA BASNIGHT so she cannot be MELISSA E. BASNIGHT wife of FREDERICK M. DAVENPORT.
MELISSA E. BASNIGHT married FREDERICK M. DAVENPORT, son of JOHN W. & OLIVE DAVENPORT, on 11-12-1871 probably in Tyrrell Co. Something happened to the marriage licenses for that time period in Tyrrell Co. so I can't check Melissa's parents on that document.
My mother-in-law, Mildred, has always wanted to know what happened to her mother's family. I would love to surprise her with this information on her upcoming 88th birthday. Any help that you can provide about any of these families would be greatly appreciated.
