Doug,
I worked at Dorothea Dix Hospital for almost 30 years. There is an old cemetery on the hospital grounds. Many of the graves are unmarked, but your gg-grandfather might possibly be buried there. If you are interested, you might call the hospital, and ask for Volunteer Services; I believe they were the lead group in the cemetery restoration. If they don't have the records, they should know where you could locate them.
