Could you please cite the listing where you found John Nichols in 1900? I looked and there are three John Nichols in Wake County in 1900, but none of them live in Oak Grove. There are 19 Nichols in Oak Grove, none named John or anything close. How old was he? Who was he living with? Was he married? There are a lot of Nichols around and John is a common first name. Additional details might make it possible to help you find him.
