Carolyn, There were many Ray families in Wake County, NC that went to Weakley Co. TN.
There was a John Ray, b. ca 1778 md. Elizabeth?; they had a son, Terrell Ray who was married to a Emily?. Terrell and Emily's children were Nathan, James, Rebecca, Elizabeth and Willis. I believe that this may be your family. They are not my line but were neighbors of my father's side of the family, the Cooleys. Sandy in NC.
