Dear Susannah: I am a direct descendant of John Brooks, Sr. of Chatham Co., N.C. He and his family settled there in 1755 and many Brooks still live there and in the research triangle area. I suggest that you attend our Brooks family reunion in Siler City, N.C. which is held July 31st and August 1st. It's likely that the Brooks you're searching for have some relation to the Chatham Co. Brooks. I think the coming reunion is our 119th! Ms. Ida Brooks Kellem wrote and had published a Brooks family genealogy in the early 1950's. It is now in reprint in soft cover from Pip Press in Sanford, N.C.for a reasonable cost.
In the last few years, the family has been compiling more recent Brooks genealogy and perhaps this would could also prove useful. I will be glad to assist you if you will contact me through this forum. Sincerely, Douglas Brooks
