Thank you for the follow up information. I have looked at the Ragan family trees at Ancestry.com and there are several possibilities but nothing definite as far as Temperance's father. James Reagan (born around 1770) seems to be the best match so far. One of his daughters married Henry Buffaloe and there were several members of that family listed in census information living in the general vicinity of the Honeycutts. I found a Larkin, William, James and a Willis Ragan in my limited research so far.
