Maynard, Maynor, Mainer, and Spelling Variations

My gg-grandfather was Moses Mainer, born 1817 in TN. I would like information on his ancestry. Someone mentioned that they thought he was descended from the Maynard family in Wake County, NC, but I have no way of linking Moses to NC. His father's name might have been John. My g-grandfather was Archibald Cowen Mainer, and my grandfather was John William Mainer. Archibald was born in TN/KY in 1844 and John was born in 1850 in Pope County, IL. Moses married Nancy Elizabeth Lawson 17 Dec 1817 in TN. Moses is my brick wall and any information that could link him to anyone will be greatly appreciated. I am in CO, so the internet is my best source for research at this point. My e-mail address is dslee2000@gmail.com. I do know that some of the family left Tn, or possibly NC, and moved to TX. Name spellings vary.
