Hello Ann,
Thanks so much for your message. I have been to each of these sites and cannot find anything of value. The two unknown cemeteries 728C-1 and 808C remain just that. I have been in touch with one of the rangers of the Falls Lake project and she is trying to help me. So far........nothing.
The local folks say that this family is buried in a corner of the Wake Forest Golf club. Yes, there is a very small grave site there, but only fieldstones except for a DAR headstone put there by the DAR for Col. Ransom Sutherland.
I have been there and seen what is there. This was a very prosperous and distinguished group of families, Sutherlands, Mangums and Harris' families all have members buried together. At Crenshaw Hall, a few miles north of Wakefields (The Sutherland) is a house undergoing renovation to be an event house. In their side yard are all of the headstones of their family members who lived the same time as the ones I am searching, so I feel sure that somewhere we will find headstones that designate my family members.
Maybe others in Wake will read this and perhaps know something about this search.
Thanks so much,
