This may be the same John F. page in 1880:

Since the 1910 census you found shows that Adam and Bessie had been married 5 years, you may want to check for a marriage license for them in Cabarrus County. It should list their parents. I could not find a marriage record for them in Union Co.
Adam's Death Certificate should also list his parents. You could also try looking for his obituary in the Concord newspaper.
