Hi, Gay counts, Interesting information on the Gibson family. Probably not a match here with our Wigginses. I did some quick research and found that Polk Gibson was listed on the 1880 Swain Co, NC, Mortality Schedule as age 22, cause of death "shot." I'll have to check the www.newspaperarchives.com site to see if anything was written up about it. Family lore is funny. Bits and pieces are usually true. You just have to figure out which bits and pieces are true and which are fabrications or embellishments. I have not written off BJ/WJ Wiggins of Iredell and Gaston Counties as a possible match for our Benjamin Jeams Wiggins. That BJ/WJ was certainly hiding from something. The fact that our BJ reappeared every year or two to spend time with his wife and children in Sampson County leads me to believe that he didn't go to South Carolina or Georgia or Florida as previous researchers thought. Gaston County is within "visitation" distance of Sampson County. Good luck on your search for your Abraham Wiggins. Notify Administrator about this message?
