Wiggins Family of Swain Co, NC

Does anyone have information on John David Wiggins, b. abt 1858, son of Thomas Albert Wiggins and Juletta Hyde? I see in the Heritage of Swain County book that John David Wiggins married Sarah Jane Woods and had 7 children: James David, Alice, Arthur Jackson, Effie, Charlie, Robert and Bessie.

Does anyone know if this John David Wiggins stayed in Swain County or if he maybe went to Gaston County and had another family?

My great grandmother, her daughter, and her grandson have been looking for our ancestor, Benjamin Jeams Wiggins of Sampson County, for over a hundred years. Our BJ (born 1858) got into some trouble with the law and left the family home about 1882. He came and went for the next 8 years, and then disappeared for good.

I found a BJ Wiggins, b. abt 1858, died in 1926, in Gaston Co, NC. In researching that BJ, I found him under various names. In the 1900 census for Iredell Co he was David J. Wiggins, in the 1920 census for Gaston Co he was William J. Wiggins, his death certificate says B. J. Wiggins, and his gravestone in Gaston Co says W. J. Wiggins.

BJ/WJ/DJ Wiggins of Gaston Co had a son named Lloyd Wiggins who was married to Texie Anna Battle of Swain Co, NC. (I am looping back to Swain County.)

I really would appreciate more information on David John Wiggins of Swain County so I can rule him in or out. I see from the 1880 census that he was in prison when the census was taken.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Betty
