Knobs township is in Yadkin County, not Surry even though before 1850 it was part of Surry.

The name of Lodewick is also shown as Lederick, Lodwick, and Roderick as well and he was married twice, once to Jane Faircloth in Surry County on 29 Nov 1826 and then 2nd to Sarah (unknown) in Yadkin County, NC on 6 Nov 1870.

In the will of his father William ROYALL, 1825, Surry County, he was shown as Lodwick.

In 1880 census he was age 73 and lived in Boonville township so he was born about 1805. One of his daughters was Malinda Roseanne Royal who married James R. Whitaker and they are buried at Smith Grove UMC in Davie County, NC.
