Don't know if there is a connection or not. My 2nd great grandfather was John Fleming who was born in NC about 1785.
I have no info on his parents. He married Mahaley Griffin in Rockingham County, NC 4 Jan 1820. I have the names & most records of their children. They moved to Henry/Newton Co, GA about 1832-33. Their youngest daughter was born about 1833/34 in Newton County, Ga. They
lived in Rockingham County, NC near Mahaley/Mahala's parents (Southern/Leuthy Griffin). I'm in the process of checking the surrounding counties (original names) for any records of either William or John Fleming. I was convinced that John's father was William, but not sure at this point, it could be John Fleming, or something different.
