Hello Mr. Ray,
I am desperately seeking all information about our John Hurt Jr. of Surry Co. NC! I have a limit of 2 years to prove Joel Hurt the son of John Hurt JR. I have an application in to DAR for John, and they sent it back to me last Friday to provide more information. I will have to write for copies of his estate settlement, to the NC Archives for his Revolutionary War record. I will have to write to Surry Co. or the Archives for a copy of the land grant he got in Surry Co. in 1782. They are not accepting the proofs that I provided from the book "Tidewater to Texas" and Oscar Hurt's book. I have proved all generations from me back to John Hurt Jr.
Do you have any copies of deeds that might have changed from him to his children after he died? Anything at all might be a great help.
Can we be of any help to each other on this Hurt ancestor?
