I'm trying to find the approximate location of my 3g grandfather's, Benj. Wigfield, land holdings in late 1700's on N.Hunting Cr. in Surry Co., present day Yadkin Co.
I've got 4 references:
1. 11/15/1787 Benj. entered 100 acres on N.Hunting Cr. border James Harvel old entry -Witnesses Henry Speers & Joh Wright
2.11/1/1788 Deed Bk D, p 199- Benj. bought 100 acres from Wm.Cocksey coxey) Adjacent to Edwaerd Riley. Purchase proved in 1799 @ Richard Horn's house
3. 12/24/1792, Deed Bk E, p 106 Grant of 100acres, North Fork of Hunting Creek
4. 8/29/1799 Deed Bk L, p 270 Benj. sells 200 acres to Trustram Cogswell, adjoining Riley's old ln. Witnesses Frances Barnard, Jesse Denny & Benj. Johnson
Current quad maps don't show a "N. Hunting Creek" or "North Fork of Hunting Creek" but do have a North Little Hunting Creek which I assume must be the current designation.
I'm hoping the names associated with these transactions might shed light on possible general locations.
Any help greatly appreciated.
