RD had dealings with Franklin and Pleasant James. The first bought iron and paid cash; the second bought iron and paid by cutting two pits of wood (to make charcoal for the forge). Nothing on the other Jameses (yet). Could your Alexander Boles be the AM Boles who sold RD a woman and child named Amy and Hardin in 1836 (Deed Book 12/436)? I think he moved to Missouri after that, but I'm not sure. Hardin later became a successful blacksmith after the war. At any rate, I'll keep my eye out for your people as I wander through the archives. -- Gordon
