Bill -- here is what I found in the Stokes Co. Marriage book:
Buck Anderson, born 1847, the son of Parthena Morris, and Catherine Hairston, born 1847, the daughter of Aulton Hairston and Molly Hairston of Patrick Co. VA, were married on 20 February 1881 by J.W. Lasley, JP, in Sauratown, Stokes Co., NC. License no. 1440 dated 19 February 1881. Witnesses: John W. Lasley, James C. Tuttle and James W. Lasley. Aulton and Molly may be the Alton born 1807 and the Molly born 1814 listed in Peter Hairston's 1852 estate inventory as living on the Belews Creek plantation in Stokes Co. (In 1861, Molly was listed as living in the Hamburg area of Sauratown). Note that according to the census, Buck and Catherine were already living together as husband and wife in Sauratown in 1870 and 1880.
