DNA and Rebecca Cagle
Posted by: Tammie Rabon-Hudson (ID *****4453) Date: September 14, 2012 at 09:05:31

I just got back the results of my Ancestry.com DNA test. I am a descendant of a Rebecca Cagle through her marriage to Caleb Aldridge. The DNA test has linked me to two descendants of Rebecca Cagle who married George Whitley. This seems to mean it could be the same Rebecca. There was only 2 sons born to Caleb Aldridge and his Rebecca, Garner and Josiah. Everyone seems to assume that when a man remarried in the old days, that his wife had died. Divorce was rare, but it did occur. Maybe Rebecca did not die, but divorced Caleb and went on to marry George. The birth years for those two oldest Whitleys could be incorrect and be a bit younger. Ages were not an exact science in the least during that century.

Any ideas?
