I have John N. "Little John" Dry b. 23 Apr 1799 listed as a son of Ulrich(Owen)Dry and his first wife, Eve. Owen was born in PA in 1757 and died in Cabarrus Co. NC in 1840.
There seems to be some conflicting information on Owen Dry. Several NC researchers list him as the probable son of Charles "Karl" Dry and Christina Muss. Karl was born cir 1732 and moved to NC from PA and died in Cabarrus Co. in 1797.
Other researchers state that based upon a letter written by a Rev. Lawrence Dry from IL, in 1926 which related the "family tradition", Owen Dry was the son of Jacob Dry (a probable brother of Karl Dry). Jacob was born in 1730 but I have no further info on him.
I have "Little John" Dry listed with two marriages. His first wife, and mother of Sandy Dry, was unknown. In 1836 John married (2nd)Sophia Barrier, daughter of Jacob Berger and Katherine Lingle. Sophia's sister, Katherine was married to John B. "Big John" Dry, son of Andrew Dry and Barbara Teem.
