The Stanly County Genealogical Society published in 1981 a book on "Abandoned Cemeteries of Stanly County."
Smith Family Cemetery also called Caudle Cemetery. located off #1744 on Fred Deese estate in edge of woods. It was copied by Carol Hopkins
Elizabeth (Upchyrch) Smith born Nov 1778 died Nov. 14, 1823
(Stone broken) b. Feb (1776) died June 15, 1852 age 76 yrs. 3 mo. 26 da.
(Footstone) D. S. (This is stone of John David Smith)
Based on the probate date for the will of David Smith, I think this is his grave and this was his first wife.
I found on RootsWeb family trees where Ronald Tucker had posted that his second wife was also Elizabeth Ann Upchurch, daughter of Allen Upchurch and Mary Dudney, and was a niece of the first wife, Elizabeth Upchurch, daughter of Harmon and Betty Upchurch. He didn't give a source for this information.
