I did some more checking to make sure I could tell you who the Elizabeth Cagle who had the sons Adam W. and Eli B. Honeycutt was married to. While looking at this, have decided there were two Elizabeth Cagles, one who married Levi K. Honeycutt and one who married John Honeycutt and had William.

1850 Stanly Co. NC census Furr Township Dwelling 541-43
CAGLE, George 73 m farmer
Cagle Sarah 35 f

This is the older George Cagle of the will I mentioned.

Next door in Dweling 540-42
HONEYCUTT, Levi K. 55 m farmer
Honeycutt, Mary 50 f (his second wife)
Honeycutt, Adam W. 20 mm laborer (son of Elizabeth Cagle)
Honeycutt, Eli 18 m laborer (son of Elizabeth Cagle)
Honeycutt, Merriman 8 f
Honeycutt, Julia 8 f
Honeycutt Calvin W. 6 m

The other George, who was the womanizer was in Smith Twp Dwelling 714-19 age 37 with wife Elizabeth.
CAGLE, George,Jr. 37
Cagle, Elizabeth 38
Cagle, Barthena 10 f
Cagle, David S. 15 m
Cagle, Sarah 13 f
Cagle, Mary 12 f
Cagle, Martha 8 f
Cagle, Elizabeth 8 f Is this the Elizabeth who married John Honeycutt by 1860? Mother of William?
Cagle, Methina 7 f
Cagle, Catharine 3 f
Cagle, Melinda 9 f
HONEYCUTT, Joshua 15 m

Greg, I don't know how you could get the court records unless you write to the State Archives in Raleigh. I know that they are filed there besides in the court records in Stanly Co. I have some books with early court records in them from Stanly Co., but they are before the time period that you want. Also have a marriage book that goes from 1850 to 1904. Any marriage after a certain time in 1867 will have the parents listed on it. This sure does help know who they are!!

Dover, Pope County, Arkansas

PS: Am researching these families from Stanly Co. NC all on my mother's side of the family: FORREST, HATLEY, CARTER, FURR, BURRIS
