I have researched the FURR family from this area of North Carolina for over 35 years. I wanted to prove that my gt gt grandmother, Sarah E. Furr Hatley was the daughter of Esquire John Furr and Beneeta Burris. It took me more than 25 years to find this proof, but Coy Hatley from Locust, NC finally found it for me at the state archives in John's estate record. I also have the information that Moses Stallings and wife and these three of his children are buried in Mission Baptist Church Cemetery. As I said before, I can't tell you where this community is. But there is also a small family cemetery nearby called Stallings cemetery. Or it may have been moved to the church cemetery later. This cemetery is listed in the book, "Abandoned Cemeteries of Stanly Co." Directions: Located off #1206 beside Mission Baptist Church - across pasture in field - 200 yards in trees. Maybe this will help you locate both of these cemeteries. There is an entry in this small cemetery for Moses Stallings, son of Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Stallings and Moses sister, Dicie Stallings. There are no dates for either of them. This cemetery was copied by Thurman Burleson in 1981. There is another cemetery in this book, Old Mission Cemetery. Directions: Located off #1210 on Small road at Milling Co. On right of road about 300 yards from #1210 in overgrown area. No Stallings listed in this one. Sure do hope that this will give you an idea where to find the cemetery you are looking for. Hope you will let me know what you find. Much of my information came from correspondence with Jo Stallings Short. She has done a lot of research on the Stallings families. Please email me at linajaneboyd@hotmail.com and I will send you the information I have on this family. Lina Boyd Notify Administrator about this message?
