Funeral services for Rbert Sidney Abernathy, 80, of 2709 Joyner Road, retired painter, will be held at the Clements Funeral Chapel today at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Baptist Church cemetery near Stanley. The Rev. Julian Motley, pastor of Gorman Baptist Church will conduct the service. He died at Watts Hospital Tuesday at 7:30 am. following declining health of the past year. He was born and raised in Gaston Couty, son of the late Robert S. Abernathy and Martha Jane Wilkie Abernathy. He had been a resident of Durham for the past six years. Surviving are one daughter Mrs. Rosa Davis of Baltimire, Md.; one son , Robert S. Abernathy of Lancester, S.C.; one sister Mrs. Virginia B. Clovinger of Durham and one brother George G. Abernathy of Carthage.
