Linda and John,
According to the bible record of Stephen Kirk, published in Stanly County Genealogical Society's Journal, Volume II No. 1, page 56 by David Kirk Shaver, Stephen Kirk's 1st wife was Patsy Kimbrell born 20 Aug 1795, died 16 Aug 1840. He then remarried to Cynthia or Syntha Goodman on 25 Sep 1851. This marriage is not filed in Stanly Co. marriages. Syntha (way spelled in bible record) was born 26th May 1814.
I suspect that this is the Syntha H. Kirk who married in Rowan Co. NC to George Crotser or Krotzer on either 07 or 13 of Nov 1853. There are two listings with different spelling of his name and a different date on each marriage. Have not proven this last info to be her.
Stephen Kirk in his will filed in Stanly Co. NC, mentions his wife Cynthia and 11 children.
Stephen is a brother to Daniel Kirk who married into my FORREST family. Daniel was also listed in the death section of the bible record, along with four other brothers and a sister.
