Eliza age 20 in this family, I thought, was Stephen Crump Sr.'s wife, not his daughter, and Lucy is her daughter by him. Or is this the wife of Stephen, Jr? No, you stated he was living with Uncle, James Crump in 1850. Up until now I had believed she was his wife.

Stanly Co. NC marriages 1851-1867
CARTER, Calvin to Elizabeth CRUMP on 14 Nov 1865 Book I page 45. I thought this was the same person as Eliza and Ann E. in the 1850 and 1860 census. She had several Crump children listed with her as a widow in 1860.

She is Calvin Carter's second wife. I have a journal kept by Calvin's daughter, Eva Carter Hatley, who is my great grandmother. She has listed the marriage to Calvin as Elizabeth Crawford on 01 Oct 1863. Journal also has birthdates for entire family. Wouldn't have any of them if not for this journal. I can't explain the discrepancy between the date in the marriage records and this one. Elizabeth Crump Carter was in Mecklenburg Co. NC in 1870 where one of the CARTER boys married. Calvin and Elizabeth had a son born in 1864. which is between the marriage dates.

But in 1870 Stanly Co. NC is another Elizabeth CRUMP DAVIS who had the last three children of the first Elizabeth listed with her: Robert, Walter or Walton and Helen. So this is the one you are asking about, right?

So I expect from what I am listing here, I have confused two different Crumps and lumped them together as one.

My Elizabeth Crump Carter remarried after coming to Pope County, Arkansas to Berkhead EPPS on 22 Feb 1872 Book D page 287, so she probably came with the rest of the family to Pope County in the fall of 1871. She is buried in East Point Cemetery in western Pope County northwest of Russellville, Arkansas.

Can you shed any light on this confusion and who my Elizabeth Crump might be? Could my Eliza(beth) Crump be a daughter of Stephen, Sr. who didn't marry or married to one of his sons, who had died?

I sure do wish we could find some earlier marriage records before 1850 in Stanly Co!!! Wonder what happened to the ones from 1842-1851?

I do think that Elizabeth, wife of William Davis is the Eliza listed with Stephen, Sr., not the wife of Stephen Jr. Lucy Ann and Wincy, her daughters, had married by 1870 census. so this accounts for all the children listed with her in 1860 census.

I hope I haven't completely confused you with all this.
