My line of the Burris family is also from Solomon through Taylor Burris, then his daughter Beneeta Burris, who married Esquire John Furr. It took me many, many years to find the proof that my Sarah E. Furr was their daughter. I had lots of folks who kept telling me she wasn't.

My mother's entire family came from Stanly County, NC: HATLEY, FURR, CARTER, FORREST. Even my grandfather, John Caswell Forrest, was born there in 1849. I guess I must explain how that is possible. John was married four times and outlived all but my grandmother, his 4th wife. When they married he was 50 and she was 25. My mother was their youngest daughter born in 1907. She didn't marry until she was 31 and I was born in 1941. So that is how my grandfather can be more than 100 years older than me. Another thing that has always amazed me, no one in our family knew about his first two marriages until I started tracking down his family!!
