Howell, Hough, and/or Huff connection

Looking for a Howell, Hough, and/or Huff connection in Montgomery Co., NC in the 1840 or before census. Judith Howell (b: abt 1773) may have gone after the 1840 census to live with a daughter or granddaughter who married a Hough/Huff as shown in the 1860 census of Stanly or Montgomery Counties in North Carolina. She and members of this family migrated to Hancock Co., IL where they are shown in 1870.
Any help and information would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Tom Howell
Researching: Howell, Ray, Isenhour, Howard, Myers, Shumate, Massey, Boger, et at. I will gladly exchange genealogy information.
