WALKERS, DEATONS, BUTLERS, ROGERS, DAVIDSONS

MONTGOMERY Co. NC was formed from ANSON CO. NC in 1779, and most all these families listed below lived in Anson, then Montgomery, then STANLY CO. NC in 1841 if their lands lay along Long Creek in Montgomery Co. NC in 1779 on these land entries. So these are families who had lived in all three counties, perhaps. Many migrated then out of NC into TN, and this is what we have on some of the families who connect to my ROGERS and DAVIDSONS of Tennessee.

WALKERS, ROGERS, BUTLERS, MONTGOMERY CO. NC LAND ENTRIES

No. : 5142 GRANTEE: WALKER, ROBERT Acreage 130
LOCATION : On Long Ck. adj. THOMAS WARBUTTONS, TREADWELLS line, on S. side of the road. Also mentions Warrant # 5143
WARRANT : 8 Oct. 1799 SURVEY: 5 Dec. 1810
CHAINCARRIERS: Isaac Walker, Zachariah Walker

( need info on these WALKERS ) Our ROGERS lived along LONG CREEK in Montgomery Co. NC as well, and the chain carrier for my GGG Grandfather WILLIAM ROGERS was WILLIAM WALKER. IS this WILLIAM WALKER related to the ROBERT WALKER, ISAAC WALKER and ZACHARIAH WALKER above ? ZACHARIAH ROGERS b. bet. 1770-1780 is a brother of my WILLIAM ROGERS b. 1770 Montgomery Co. NC. ) Is there any connection between these WALKERS and our ROGERS ?

No. : 5615 GRANTEE: BUTLER, THOMAS Acreage 100
LOCATION: Adj. his own lands, MARY DEATON, on E. side of Peedee R. & on both sides of Densons Ck., the Big Br., Williams line, BASEL DEATON, Morris, the Big Road, the Cool Spring.
WARRANT : 7 - ?- 1808, SURVEY: 2 Nov. 1818
CHAINCARRIERS : James Butler, Joshua Butler

( BASEL DEATON moved to McNairy Co. TN and it is his line of DEATONS that are in the JORDAN line that also moved to McNairy Co. TN and are in our DAVIDSON line there. These same DAVIDSONS said to be out of NC as well, and the JORDANS and DEATONS both have been verified back to Montgomery Co. NC. DANIEL DAVIDSON and his brother GEORGE DAVIDSON moved from VA to ANSON and MONTGOMERY CO. NC. ARE these DAVIDSONS in Montgomery and Anson Co. NC related to our McNairy Co. TN Davidson's as well ? ) ROBERT V. HICKS and SARAH ANN JORDAN had daughter SARAH ANN HICKS b. 1812 Montgomery Co. NC who married my GGG Granduncle, HARVEY LOVE DAVIDSON of McNairy Co. TN. DEATONS are related to SARAH ANN JORDAN HICKS of McNairy Co. TN, the mother of SARAH ANN HICKS DAVIDSON.

No. 5619 GRANTEE: ROGERS, WILLIAM Acreage 100
LOCATION : Adj. James Rogers, George Fisher Harris, Robert Weeks, his own, on waters of Long Ck. , on SW side of Yadkin R. , Dunns line, Millers line.
WARRANT : 7 July 1801 SURVEY : 20 Aug. 1804
CHAINCARRIERS : Jas. Rogers, Snr. , WILLIAM WALKER

( William Rogers b. 1770 Montgomery Co. NC is my GGG Grandfather, and James Rogers Sr. is my 5th G. Grandfather. We need to know if there is a WALKER connection to our Rogers, as William Rogers moved to Carroll Co. TN and purchased land there from a RADFORD WALKER of WILSON CO. TN. As the WALKERS lived on Long Creek in Montgomery Co. NC as did our WILLIAM ROGERS and his father James Rogers, Jr. and his father, JAMES ROGERS Senr. then we wondered if there are more than land that made these ROGERS/WALKERS have connections ?? Is WILLIAM WALKER related to our Rogers or is WILLIAM WALKER related to the WALKERS in Land entry No. 5142 and 5143 ? )

*******

The surnames of HEARNES, EDWARDS, LILES, McMACKINS, CHESHER, FIELDS, GREENS, ROWLANDS, all have connections to our ROGERS in Montgomery Co. NC. and after they all moved to Carroll Co. TN. CHESHERS however remained in NC, and it is said that ZACHARIAH ROGERS b. bet. 1770-1780 NC is son of our JAMES ROGERS, Jr. as well, and if so he has a marriage record in ROWAN CO. NC in 1820 having married SARAH CHESHER. Zachariah and William Rogers had another brother named FREDERICK ROGERS b. abt. 1760-1765 NC who may have moved to HAMILTON CO. OHIO after the 1800 Montgomery Co. NC Census. The HEARNES lines in Montgomery Co. NC moved to HAMILTON CO. OHIO by about 1803 and intermarried there with both the lines of ROGERS, and MARKLANDS. The MARKLANDS are also in ROWAN CO. NC Marriage records of the CHESHER/CHESHIRE Families, so surely there is more to the story than those in Hamilton Co. OHIO being connected. What is the story on the MARKLANDS, CHESHIRES and ROGERS of ROWAN CO. NC and the connection of ZACHARIAH ROGERS to the ROGERS in Montgomery Co. NC. Is ZACHARIAH ROGERS a son of our JAMES ROGERS, Jr. b. abt. 1746 Anson Co. NC ?

Any help appreciated. Tina Rogers Beller
