John,
No I haven't connected with any Claytons from Stokes Co. NC.
My family was from Stanly Co and there may be some ties with the Stokes Co Claytons. I would be very interested in finding out. I have traced my great grandfather's family to 1821.

Charles Clayton - b.9-25-1859 (my great grandfather)in Stanly County, Albemarle Township, North Carolina
father/James Clayton - b.1821
m.12-9-1858 mother/Martha Elliott (2nd wife)
Joseph Clayton - b.____ (wife) Margaret

If you can help me find someone related to Joseph Clayton or where he may have come from I would greatly appreciate it. I'll check Stoke County.
Thanks,
Debbie
