The Averitt family is having a Family Celebration on Nov. 11, 2006 in Elizabethtown and White Oak, NC. We will meet at 11:00 AM for a "Meet Your Cousins" time at The Barn Restaurant in Elizabethtown, NC. We will be able to get a buffet lunch (dutch treat) and then go to White Oak for a 2:00 PM Memorial Service for John Averitt (1794 -1870)at the Live Oak Methodist Church. (John's youngest child, Robert Lee Averitt, was a charter member of this church). After the Memorial Service we will drive down the road a couple of miles to the Lee Averitt Cemetery and have a War of 1812 Veterans' Monument Dedication at John Averitt's grave. After the Monument Dedication we can return to The Barn Restaurant for more visiting and can have supper together if we wish. We are expecting descendants of John Averitt and both his wives, Jane Autry and Emily Cain, from Texas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, (possibly a couple more states) as well as NC for this event, so it should be a wonderful time to meet your kin.(John and Emily had two daughters who married Smith brothers and part of their descendants were in Sampson Co). What better way to spend Veteran's Day than with your relatives honoring a War of 1812 Veteran? For more information contact: Hazel Yarbrough, 401 Walters Drive, LaGrange, NC 28551, or 252-566-5120, or hyarbro@ipass.net. I will be in Bladen County from Nov. 8 until after the celebration day, and can be reached there at 910-588-6093, or hcyarbro@intrstar.net. Notify Administrator about this message?
