I have just read an article in a new magazine (May 2002) Georgia Backroads about a William Baxter Sr. (1796 - 1852) born in Bainbridge, County Down, Ireland who was the son of David and Ester McDowell Baxter.

William Baxter Sr. was 1st married to Sarah Berryhill and had several sons(One being William Baxter Jr.) He later married ?? and had three sons

William Baxter Jr. b. July 7, 1796 d. September 30, 1838 was married to Nancy Suttle(1801 - 1882) in 1821. She was the daughter of George Suttle a prominent planter in the Floyd's Creek Community in Rutheford. The Suttles ranked among the most substantial slave holders of the countyand in their home, later became known as the Carpenter Brick House, one of the finest homes in Rutherford County, NC.

If anyone would like copies of this article just email me and I will send it to.
