Sept. 23, 1809, B. Burgan surveyed for Thomas Davis 50 acres located on camp Creek in Burke County, NC. It was bounded by land owned by Wm. England & ? Noblet. This land survey was witnessed by Wm. England and Joseph Davis. My question. Who was Joseph Davis? He was never listed on the census between 1800 & 1820. Could he have been a Son of Thomas Davis and old enough to witness the survey?
This land was situated in the area that is now Crooked Creek-Davis Town in McDowell Co., NC, South of Old Fort near the Rutherford Co. line.
