Pat, the census of 1880 of Rutherford county, N.C. show Dock Smith, Elizabeth Smith and the following children:
Thomas (who we know had a different mother)
Joseph, Alfred, Logan, Lula, Julius, Charlie, John, and Fredric.
After the 1880 census,other children including my grandfather James Boyd Smith was born March 12, 1883, Ralph A.Smith and some family members think there was a Walter Smith all of the Forest City area before moving to Gastonia, Winston Salem, Belmont and other places in the South.
